TVDIVAGAL: Newlyweds ΓÇô A Tina and Tarz Interview Exclusive!By Delaina Dixon | May 7, 2013 | Entertainment
Did you catch Newlyweds: The First Year, series premiere last night on Bravo? The DivaGals chatted with Tina Sugandh and Tarz Ludwigsen, the international pop star and tech geek who fell in love on their first date. Here’s more on their first 365 days as husband and wifeΓÇôfrom never going to bed angry to date night!
What are the biggest challenges you face in your marriage?
TINA: Oh my god, do you have an hour? Honestly, we thought our newlywed year would just be so blissful, but itΓÇÖs been moments of bliss, wrapped in tragedy and drama. WeΓÇÖve unfortunately had so many issues, from Tarz having basically zero baby-making time due to working 20 hours, seven day a week workdays for the start-up he co-founded called Pandoodle, and me having to sacrifice my music career for this marriage, to my dad and Tarz having a horrible relationship due to my momΓÇÖs recent tragic passing from breast cancer, and much more. ItΓÇÖs just been insane.
They say “never go to bed angry.” Do you follow that mantra? How do you resolve an argument?
TINA: ThatΓÇÖs the one thing I would say we have down. We are completely and totally best friends, and we know we can share absolutely anything we feel. We throw our egos out the window with each other, and our guards are let down 100 percent! When I have even the slightest insecurity or jealousy, I verbalize it to Tarz right away; we figure it out, and then itΓÇÖs over! No harboring bitter feelings that later translate into a huge blown out fight! I do firmly believe in getting everything out literally right away and not going to bed angry.
Tarz, when did you know Tina was the one?
TARZ: This is going to sound crazy, but it was on our first date. Tina actually even moved in with me on our very first date! I cleared a drawer for her and everything, which in Manhattan is like offering someone an entire room! We just had this incredibly intense, unexplainable chemistry right from the start. It was something that neither of us has ever even close to experienced, or thought was possible!
Tina, what’s the most romantic thing Tarz has done for you?
TINA: He is a total romantic! LetΓÇÖs just say when we watch Bollywood movies, heΓÇÖs the one thatΓÇÖs doing the crying, but donΓÇÖt tell him I told you that! HeΓÇÖs done so much from writing sweet poems and letters that I totally make fun of him for but secretly think itΓÇÖs so adorable.
I do have one Christmas romantic memory that IΓÇÖll never forget. My mom actually tragically passed away a few years ago. She was the center of my universe, and the most beautiful and radiant woman that I will ever know. Christmas was an enormous holiday in our house where we would all wear matching PJs, and dance and sing like crazy all day, cook together and more, so I hadn’t the desire to deck out the house and celebrate since she had been gone. One Christmas, I was out all day in the recording studio, and when I came back, Tarz had decked out the house with all of my mom’s Christmas decorations, including our giant tree and everything. It was so incredibly sweet, and I was so grateful to him!
What is your ideal date night?
TARZ: Our ideal date night is kind of glutinous and disgusting. After a really long and exhausting workweek where we eat healthy, we like to sit around on Friday night and have pizza night. But this is not your typical pizza night. We each order a medium hand-tossed pizza, along with cheesy bread, and cookies and ice cream for dessert. I will say that Tina typically finishes her entire medium pizza, while my medium pizza usually has a couple slices left. I have no idea how she does it!
Tina, what are you favorite makeup shade and brands that flatter yourΓÇ¿skin tone?
I canΓÇÖt live without my glitter! Any shade or tone, fine or large chunks–it all works! One of my favorite glitter colors to wear on my eyes is MACΓÇÖs hologram 3D glitter. Another obsession that California makeup artist Betty Robles introduced me to is this dark rich gel eyeliner from Inglot in shade #77. ItΓÇÖs so versatile. You can use it to line your eyes, as well as using it like black eye shadow and smearing it on the corners of your lids. It also will magically stay in your waterline literally all day without reapplying! I also am in love with my Armani Luminous Silk foundation in #7. IΓÇÖll stop right there, as IΓÇÖm a makeup-whore and could go on all day!
