Miss Universe, R’Bonney Gabriel, made a stunning appearance at this year’s Cielo Gala, hosted Latino Commission on AIDS at Cipriani Wall Street® in New York City.
The reigning beauty, who hails from the United States and has Filipino roots, shared with the DivaGals how she designed her gown for the event using sustainable materials and how environmentalism is one of her most ardent platforms.
Miss Universe also announced that she will help promote HIV/AIDS education and prevention in collaboration with the Commission on a global scale.
At the annual fundraiser, Puerto Rican nonprofit Centro Ararat, founder and CEO Dr. Iván Meléndez-Rivera and The Fundación Latinoamericana de Acción Social (FLAS) were honored. Both Dr. Meléndez and FLAS Founder, Elia Chinó, gave their remarks as the commission continues its fight against HIV and AIDS. Actor and activist Laith Ashley provided his powerful and passionate remarks virtually, expressing his gratitude for being the 2023 Ilka Award recipient.
