What To Wear On An Alaskan Cruise With Discovery Princess – PICS!
By Delaina Dixon | June 2, 2022 | Food Fashion Style, TravelWondering what to wear on an Alaskan cruise? I spent a week traveling to Alaska abroad the Discovery Princess, the newest vessel in the cruise line’s Medallion Class.
Of course, I recorded my amazing outfits to share, including this metallic fit and flare dress from Nicole Miller (with pockets!) and sparkly silver shoes. Yes, that’s my mom, wearing an embroidered silk gown by Kimora Lee Simmons.

First Dinner
An unstructured floral jacket over a white t-shirt and a Madewell denim skirt in the color of the season, pale lavender, is a chic casual look for dinner. Since the temperature hovered around 50 degrees while sailing north, I finished it off with patterned tights and grey ankle boots.
In Native Land
Visiting Saxman Native Village in Ketchikan, Alaska, I got to see the totem poles made by the Tlingit klan. Dressing for this weather, it’s all about layering. Try a Houndstooth-patterned coat over a zip-up jacket and flannel pants. And wear comfy shoes, like these Adidas Women’s Duramo Sl 2.0 Running Shoes.
Dinner In Juneau
Discovery Princess has three dining rooms (we tried them all!). High-waisted black pants with a SHEIN floral top that cinches the waist make my petite legs look super long.
Happy Hour!
When you’ve been on a few Princess Cruises, you reach Elite status. And you can enjoy the daily happy hour inside lounge Take Five (on deck six!). For an afternoon of yummies and the best skinny Margarita on the ship (make sure Deanna makes it!), I wore Cindy Karen travel pants, an oversized white button-down blouse and a roped necklace from Columbian jewelers.
Captain’s Circle Party
Captain, my captain. To meet Discovery Princess’ commander-in-chief, Captain John Smith, this dress was a must. From U.K. brand Warehouse, it’s a thrift find gem! Vintage accessories take the look to the next level: a leather belt, dark green clutch and a gold jewelry set. Leopard pumps keep the look modern.
Champagne Dreams
There are a lot of trivia games to play on this Alaskan cruise. We came in second in “Decades Trivia,” and scored a bottle of bubbly. For toasting with the gals, I topped boot-cut denim jeans with a navy blue “The Shirt” dress, highlighted with a thick beaded yellow necklace. Get your own denim shirt dress below.
