Last week my fave fashion makeover series What Not to Wear got its own rehaul.

Celebrity stylist Ted Gibson joined the team as its new hair guru. His first task?

Taking charge of a buxom blonde who really needed to be a redhead.

“I knew it was going to be best for her,” Ted says of his first contributor, Ariel. “I wouldn’t have done her justice if I had buckled.”

Yeah, it’s gonna be like that under Ted’s new regime.

So how did the man who handles Angelina Jolie‘s tresses wind up making over the couture clueless?

“TLC called me in for an audition. They just wanted me to come in and get in front of the camera,” Ted tells the TV Divagal.

Ted admits he didn’t know he was taking over for Nick Arrojo, who had been WNTW‘s stylist since its inception.

Indeed, Nick’s parting was fast and furious, according to sources inside the Arrojo camp.

“They told him they were going in a different direction the day before they were supposed to shoot,” says the source.

TLC’s official word? “The show is in its seventh season and we have been making some changes to keep it fresh. This is one part of that,” says Nancy Daniels, the network’s VP of Development.

With Ted now at the helm, future makeover candidates on WNTW can be sure of one thing: Ted will make them look hot!

“I think hair should always be sexy,” Ted says. “You don’t have to be a slave to the trends. I really focus on the beauty of the individual.”

He has some advice for those who don’t make it into his styling chair.

“Change your hair from season to season: the color, the length or the bangs. Women tend to get into a rut. Keep it fresh.”

TV Divagal never has to worry about that!

But let’s get to what’s really important. How does he make Angelina’s hair look so freaking good?

“She loves Ted Gibson Hairsheet styling sheets,” shares Ted, whose products are available at Target.com.

“It’s great for traveling, it has UVA protection in it, and vitamins and anti-oxidants. It’s an all-inclusive towelette to wipe on your hair and it’s great for blow outs.”
